Less than an hour West of Concord and the Lakes Region, visit the "other" New Hampshire, a rural region but one rich in history and character. Named after Dartmouth, the Ivy League college in Hanover, and Sunapee, both a lake and a mountain that provide year-round recreational opportunities, this region has much to offer in scenic beauty, culture and heritage.

From Sunapee, travel on Route 103 to Warner, NH, to visit the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum, a guided walk through Native American cultures that features displays and exhibits, some quite rare and very touching (1 - 1.5 hours). Travel North on I-89 to Route 4 to Enfield for a tour of the Museum at Lower Shaker Village, followed by lunch, all at the authentically restored Shaker Inn (1.5 hours). Plan a shopping stop at the one-of-a-kind boutique stores in New London on your return to Sunapee. Then end your day with a narrated cruise on Lake Sunapee, or a scenic chairlift ride to the summit of Mt. Sunapee, from where, on a clear day, you can see Mt. Washington (1.5 hours).
